GC SAAC Update
This Fall semester has been a very exciting one for Georgia College! This year we came up with new, fun ideas and events to help raise money and bring the community together. We started by organizing our SAAC team into separate groups of committees. The groups were given tasks to focus on such as, fundraising, community service, general needs, social who help with documenting event, and lastly, the events committee who assist with decorating, foods and games.
This year we held an ongoing themed event called the “Cee of Green” during the soccer and volleyball seasons. Many of our committees attended and put in a lot of hard work from setting up promotional signage to selling stars for fans to purchase. By purchasing a star, the fan would be donating money to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Everyone who donated had their star displayed on the wall in the gym for everyone to see.
We also decided to have a Halloween costume party instead of our usual Christmas themed event. Lots of yummy treats and goodies such as Halloween decorated cookies, a delicious caramel dip for apple slices smothered in a selection on peanuts, M&M’s, chocolate sprinkles and multicolored candy sprinkles. There were also fun games such as bobbing for apples, guess what’s inside the box and guess how many pennies are inside the jar. Athletes, coaches, students, family and friends were all invited to dress up in their best Halloween costume for; you guessed it, a traditional costume contest! The events
all turned out to be a huge success and as a team we were very pleased to meet our goals for the semester.
We are currently now planning future events that will take place in the spring, such as, Make-a-Wish and the athletics formal night. I look forward to keeping everyone up to date on the exciting things taking place at Georgia College!
